Synchronous DC-DC Buck Regulator – MIC28517

Overview

The MIC28517 – Synchronous DC-DC Buck Regulator from Microchip is a wide input range (4.5 V to 70 V) integrated FET, 8A switching regulator. Leveraging the latest enhanced high voltage COT controllers co-packaged with a pair of low FOM power trench N-Channel FETs with improved avalanche rating, the MIC28517 ensures efficient power management.

The output voltage is adjustable down to 0.6 V with +/- 1% accuracy, making it suitable for various applications requiring precise voltage regulation.

Capabilities

  1. Conduct live testing of the MIC28517 synchronous DC-DC buck regulator.
  2. Perform the following key test evaluations:
    • Operation Mode – Switching waveforms
    • Regulation tests – Line Regulation and Load Regulation
    • Performance tests – Startup transient, Load transient and Efficiency
    • Boundary conditions tests – Input voltage boundary conditions
  3. Observe and analyze waveforms at various test points, such as:
    • Input voltage
    • Input current
    • Output voltage
    • Output current.
  4. Computed values of regulation and efficiency based on the real-time data are made available to the user.

Features

  • Evaluating the board connected through a real power supply and load system setup.
  • Exercise all the feature tests with different input and output parameters in real-time.
  • Perform all the operations by choosing the outputs from the different selectable pins provided on the board.
  • Testing the boundary condition of synchronous buck regulator
