This driver combines adaptive DC/DC feedback control with BroadLED™ technology, ensuring optimal efficiency and thermal performance. It supports both analog and digital dimming methods, which enhances the contrast ratio in HDR displays. The driver also incorporates Renesas’ patented AnyMode™ dimming, offering comprehensive, simple, and flexible options to enhance HDR display picture quality. It can drive up to 66mA per channel with high current accuracy, providing a robust solution for backlighting needs.

Exploring the seamless integration of R-Car Gen3 (H3) SiP and the IW70X9 LED Driver for automotive displays. The automotive display industry is witnessing a revolution with the integration of the R-Car Gen3 (H3) SiP and the IW70X9 LED Driver. This integration is exemplified in the TenXer CN339 livebench demo, where an LCD screen and an IW7059 LED driver with an LED strip represent the display assembly and light source respectively. The R-Car backlight Full-Array Local Dimming solution, a product of this integration, offers a unique approach to backlight LEDs. 

 

This integration allows continuous PWM signals or very narrow PWM burst signals that are fully synchronized to the video frame at the same or higher frequency. The PWM duty cycle can be updated in each video frame and with user-configurable tail or head delays. This provides more options to reduce motion blur and improve the contrast ratio.

It also helps reduce motion blur caused by the Human Visual System (HVS) by generating high-intensity, short-duration PWM pulses. This results in faster fade-out and reduces the physiological afterimage effects of the HVS, which is important for automobile dashboard displays.

    B. Reduced Thermal Dissipation: The LiveBench solution, which integrates R-Car Gen3 H3 SalvatorX and the IW70X9 LED driver, reduces thermal dissipation. By selectively activating only the relevant backlight LEDs, the solution minimizes heat generation on the board. This improved thermal management can potentially extend the lifespan of the LEDs.
