What is Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS)?

Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS) are tiny mechanical devices embedded within semiconductor chips that combine electrical and mechanical components. MEMS are used in sensors, actuators, and devices like accelerometers and gyroscopes in smartphones, cars, and medical equipment.
