What is Silicon on Insulator?

Silicon on Insulator (SOC) is a semiconductor fabrication technique where a thin layer of silicon is placed on top of an insulating layer, usually silicon dioxide. SOI technology reduces parasitic capacitance, improving performance and energy efficiency in high-speed and low-power devices.
